Understanding Baccarat from Scratch – A Gold88 Player's Guide
Many people who hear the word "baccarat" for the first time assume it is a complicated game reserved for a select few. In reality? Baccarat is one of the easiest casino games to learn. Whether you are a new player opening your Gold88 account for the very first time or a seasoned regular who has been betting for years – within just 10 minutes, you can sit down confidently at a live baccarat table.
Basic Baccarat Rules You Need to Know
In baccarat, two hands are dealt – Banker and Player. You do not need to be either one; you simply predict which hand will win or whether the result will be a Tie. Each hand receives two or three cards depending on the third-card rules.
- Card values: Ace = 1 point, number cards = face value, face cards (J/Q/K) and 10 = 0 points.
- A hand's value is determined by the last digit of the total. Example: 7+8=15, so the hand value is 5.
- The highest possible value is 9. The hand closest to 9 wins.
- A total of 8 or 9 from the first two cards is called a "Natural" – no third card is dealt.
- Third card rules for Banker and Player are applied automatically – you don't need to make that decision yourself.
Three Types of Bets in Baccarat
At a Gold88 baccarat table, you only need to make one decision before the cards are dealt – what do you want to bet on?
- Banker: Pays 1:1 minus 5% commission. RTP 98.94% – mathematically the best bet in the entire casino.
- Player: Payout 1:1 with no commission. RTP 98.76% – slightly lower than Banker, but still highly competitive.
- Tie (Draw): Payout 8:1. RTP is just 85.6% – the house edge is significantly higher. This bet is only for players who fully understand the risk.
Why Is Baccarat So Popular Among Malaysian Players?
There are several reasons why baccarat is the number one game at Gold88. First, the rules are genuinely straightforward – none of the complex strategic decisions you find in blackjack, none of the deep analysis required in poker. Second, the RTP on baccarat (especially the Banker bet) is among the highest of any casino game, meaning your money goes further. Third, the fast pace of play means you can get through many rounds in a short amount of time.
Perhaps the biggest draw for Malaysian players – baccarat has a social dimension that other games simply cannot match. At a Gold88 table, you can see fellow players betting in real time, watch the dealer interact with everyone at the table, and feel a sense of community that no slots machine can replicate. If you miss the casino atmosphere but cannot make the trip, Gold88 brings it straight to your home.
Baccarat Road Maps – Essential Tools for Serious Players
One of baccarat's unique features, found in no other game, is the results record known as the road map. At Gold88, every live baccarat table displays several road map types, including the Big Road, Bead Plate, Big Eye Boy, Small Road and Cockroach Road. These road maps record past round results in an easy-to-read visual format, allowing players to spot patterns – though it is worth remembering that each baccarat round is statistically independent.
Live Baccarat vs RNG Baccarat – What's the Difference?
Gold88 offers both versions of baccarat. Live Baccarat (with a real human dealer) provides a more authentic and social experience, ideal for players who want the feel of a real casino. RNG Baccarat (software-based) is faster, available in demo mode for practice and suits players who prefer not to interact with a dealer. Both versions offer the same RTP and fair, audited gameplay at Gold88.
